About Ontario Daycare Rankings

Helping Ontario families make informed child care decisions since 2026.

Our Mission

Ontario Daycare Rankings was created to help Ontario families navigate the complex landscape of licensed child care. With over 3,759 licensed centres across 25 cities, finding the right daycare for your child can be overwhelming. We compile publicly available government data into an easy-to-browse, ranked format so parents can quickly compare options in their community.

Data Sources

Our rankings draw on several key data sources:

  • Ontario Ministry of Education — Licensed child care facilities open data, updated monthly, including licensee information, program types, and licence status.
  • City of Toronto Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) — Quality ratings for Toronto-area centres on a 1–5 scale across multiple program areas.
  • CWELCC Enrollment Data — Tracking which centres participate in the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care program.
  • Community Reviews — Parent feedback and community input to supplement official data.

Part of a Network

Ontario Daycare Rankings is part of the Ontario Family Resource Network, alongside Ontario School Rankings (3,798 schools across 123 cities) and Rate My Neighbourhood (708 neighbourhoods across 68 cities). Together, these sites help families make holistic decisions about where to live, learn, and grow.
